Prayerful solitude at midnight,
Extract from Soul GARMENTS first published at June Paisa Perkins at Elixr 17
sweet vectors of fortitude,
prophetic drawings,
unpacking soul garments
from dream boxes
It was soul rendering to compose a poem for a friend’s Art Project, and to also have it published at Elixr 17.
Today I received an artwork in the post from my friend which dialogued with this poem. And also a lovely surprise, the inclusion of reference to my father as well. Dad passed away in May from cancer.
Mona the subject of the poem, was also very close to her father.
I won’t share this art work as one day he plans to publish a book. However, here is a short artistic representation of the poem I have done myself in Canva.
I love the templates done by Victoria Rusyn in Canva; they are gorgeous. They feature a slightly abstract person, often with fruit, flowers, and butterflies. I am constantly attracted to use them and love collaging with them.
I would not have written this poem but for the request of my friend. And it was interesting to interact with the editor of Elixr who encourage me to hone down the poems. Thank you to both of them.
It is lovely to be on a break from studies, but I will start up again in a couple of weeks. Also though I have some other projects on the go, such as a conference and a workshop to attend in October and working on papers and other ideas. My brain is bursting with ideas.
All the best wherever you are. Enjoy the small beauties of life, like friendship, fun, collaboration and connection!
