About the Author

Dr June K. Paisa Perkins, is a writer, educator and storyteller across art forms.
Her mother is from Central Province PNG, and her father was raised in Devonport, Tasmania from a young age, and through him she has an English, Irish, French background.
She loves collaborating, consulting, creating and connecting with people of diverse backgrounds and art forms. QAGOMA, Story Factory, 4K1G radio, and anthologies of place, Pasifika diasporas, and genre, have featured her poems.
She has independently published four books including the award winning, Magic Fish Dreaming. She was the Queensland Writers Centre first Pasifika Chair for their management committee from 2022-2023.
After working as a writer-in-community, tutor, and sessional academic she recently graduated as a high school history and literature teacher and is currently working on a sequel to her middle grade verse novel.
Her first contracted book on the contribution of pedagogy, poetry and family, to her identity with Lived Places Publishing is due out in 2027 and she simultaneously has a collection of ‘Islanded’ poetry in progress.
