Last Chance: Magic Fish Dreaming Pledges

The kickstarter has just 3 days to go.

We are currently at $9491AUD and would love to make it to $10,000AUD if we can – Anything more would be amazing as we would dearly like to print the book hard cover, but we are so thrilled with how much we have been able to raise for our project.

We are preparing our thank you honour roll blog and have been already saying lots of thank yous.  We think maybe it needs to include its own special poem.

We may still look at a few more  creative ways to fund our project up to hard cover level if we can, so keep a look out for future announcements.

We are going to organise and online and real space launch for later in the year, for those who can make it.  We look forward to a very special event for our launch.

Passing the $5000AUD Mark!

So excited to let you know we have just passed $5000, and are now at $5049 raised towards our green light $9000 goal.

Just $3951 more and we will have our project definitely up and away!

There are just a few more hours left in our special Cassowary soft toy and book reward, so if you know anyone that would love this reward with the book, do let them know.

Stop Press – Additional Note for Schools – Workshops Magic Fish Dreaming 

We realise that for many schools and libraries to consider the workshop option and day visits they need to budget well ahead of time.

The schedule for this book is that it will be available October/November 2016 and the workshops will commence in 2017.

We recommend if you would love a presentation or workshop or term project for 2017 pre-purchase at least the book or Education Reward 1 so we make sure it happens and goes into print.

You will then have the satisfaction of knowing you supported a book which encourages the development of poets in our community from the earliest of ages.

We will convert your skype in Education Reward to the introductory talk to a large school group.

June has run poetry workshops in schools and for community groups, and has a graduate certificate in teaching and a PhD in writing empowerments. She is currently on an Australian Society of Authors mentorship for writing picture books and works mentoring University students in creative writing.

Helene has taught art in India. She is an award winning artist with four picture books that will have been published by 2017.

They are combining forces to inspire and share the process of collaboration, illustration, and poetry in programs will be suitable for budding illustrators and poets. Much of the information you will need for budget and grant consideration is on our project blog.

Furthermore you can look at the educational rewards in the kickstarter to get an idea of the costs and programs we provide.

First preference for 2017 workshops will be given to those schools and teachers who supported the kickstarter.

June and Helene are based in Brisbane. Travel outside of Brisbane’s CBD more than 50 km will incur additional travel costs.

Kickstarter Explained

For those not familiar with the kickstarter platform, it is a form of crowd funding where our project, Magic Fish Dreaming, only goes ahead if we raise the minimum amount for us to cover your rewards and the book, which in this case is $9000 (so far we are at $4800)

If for some reason we are not able to raise funds (which we hope doesn’t happen!) you are not charged anything at all. It is a low risk form of crowd funding.

We know for many of our supporters this may be their first ever kickstarter, and there are a number of platforms out there which can cause confusion.  But the best protection is looking at the track record of those working on the project.  If it is their first project they may not have a track record in kickstarter but they should with any luck have one in the wider community.

In this instance, June has previously produced two books and delivered them as promised to all those who preordered and expected them and  Helene has successfully illustrated three picture books, one of which is already released and available for people to see.

If you want this book to happen please pledge, any amount from $5 and up is welcome.

This is not a charity project, but support to help bring a professionally produced and special project into the world, which does not have access to traditional publishing methods, and in return you receive something for your support, which in most cases is the book and something else of your choosing from the project rewards.
